Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has declared a state of emergency on the flooded Isheri community in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The governor regretted the situation when he inspected the flooding community, assuring the residents of the area that quick intervention would be provided to address the situation.

Additionally, a comprehensive assessment will be conducted in order to find a permanent solution to the issue of flooding in the affected area. Speaking at a press conference after inspecting the flooded community, Governor Abiodun emphasized that his administration is collaborating with the federal government to address the situation as an emergency.

He further emphasized the need to find a lasting solution to the recurring flooding, in order to create a more livable environment in the area. As part of the solution, the state government will prioritize the elevation of certain roads in the affected area.

During his address to the residents of Riverview Estate, Abiodun announced that he had requested an area survey of the entire estate to identify critical areas that required immediate intervention. He assured the residents that the intervention would come in the form of an elevated road with adequate drainages to alleviate their suffering.

In his remarks, the chairman of Riverview Estate, Abayomi Akande, highlighted the suffering that the residents were experiencing due to flooding. He suggested that a panel of inquiry be set up to investigate the operations of Oyan Dam and prevent the incessant release of water that caused havoc in the state.
