To save their 2023–2024 season, Manchester United are reportedly considering signing Nigerian international, Umar Sadiq in January.

Umar Sadiq who just returned from a lengthy injury spell has managed to provide just an assist in seven Serie A games for Real Sociedad so far this season.

He mostly plays from the bench but Manchester United reportedly see the 26-year-old Nigerian striker as a player that could bring more value to the team.

Note that Manchester United have been struggling in all competitions including in the Premier League so far this season. They are currently sitting in 10th place in the league despite their heroic late-minute win over Brentford on Saturday.

With four losses in their first eight Premier League games and no wins in the UEFA Champions League, the Red Devils have struggled to live up to the expectations of the fans.

To regain their form for the second half of the season, the Old Trafford team have their sights set on Umar Sadiq, a Spanish news outlet Fichajes claimed.

Sadiq will undoubtedly be happy to move to Old Trafford after struggling to earn a spot in the Sociedad starting lineup. The Nigerian is now rated below Mikel Oyarzabal and Ander Barrenetxea in the Spanish club attackers’ ranking.

The publication wrote, “Although Sadiq Umar has yet to score goals this season with Real Sociedad, Manchester United sees him as an almost sure bet to strengthen their attack. It is important to note that the Nigerian striker had a last season marked by injuries, which has influenced his current performance. However, his record at Almería is impressive, having scored 43 goals and provided 13 assists in 84 games, highlighting his ability to be effective on the attacking front.

“Manchester United are looking to regain their form in the second half of the season, and Umar’s effectiveness could be a key element in this task. The operation is being considered for the winter transfer market, and the English club is willing to take quick measures to secure the arrival of the Nigerian striker.”
