Govt Declares Wednesday As Public Holiday

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has declared Wednesday, October 4, 2023, as a public holiday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Baba Dantiye, made this known in a statement in Kano on Wednesday.

Dantiye said that the governor urged the people to use the occasion to reflect on the teachings of the noble Prophet and imbibe them in their daily affairs.

The commissioner also urged the people of the state to pray fervently for peace and prosperity to reign in the state in particular and Nigeria at large.

“We pray to Allah to see us through this tough period and bless us with bumper harvest in this rainy season and the coming dry farming season, ” he said.

Independence Anniversary: FG Declares Monday, October 2 Public Holiday

President Bola Tinubu-led government has declared the 2nd of October, 2023, as a public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary.

This was announced in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade.

According to Akinlade, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in Abuja on behalf of the federal government.

The Minister, however, said that the Government is daily making efforts to confront these varied and numerous challenges with all the might available until respite comes our way.

Tunji-Ojo reiterated that the eminent position of Nigeria in the comity of Nations and the greatness ahead of the country is achievable if we all work together in unity.
