What Gov. Abiodun Told Minister Of Works, Umahi When He Visited Ogun (Photos)

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has asked the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to urgently tackle the deplorable conditions of federal roads in the state.

The governor expressed displeasure at the condition of federal roads in the state while saying urgent attention is needed to alleviate the sufferings of residents.

Abiodun made this observation when Umahi paid a working visit to the state to inspect the Federal Government’s road infrastructure to improve their conditions for a new lease of life and socioeconomic development.

The governor told the minister that the challenges and the residents’ frustration over the deplorable conditions of federal roads across the state, Naija News learned.

He said the Federal Government had recently denied the state access to fix some of the roads despite the adverse effects of the inadequate road infrastructure on the socioeconomic well-being of the residents.

Responding to the governor, Umahi pledged a new beginning in critical infrastructure development in the country.

The minister proposed a joint reconstruction of the Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate Road to ease the burden on road users.

Umahi, who was visiting the state for the first time since assuming office, led senior ministry officers to the governor’s office to receive firsthand information on the conditions of federal roads in the state.

The work minister said a review of most of the contracts on federal roads in the state would be made to allow for public-private participation.

He also promised joint reconstruction of the Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate Expressway by the Federal Government and Ogun State which has been in a bad state for many years.

As part of his schedule in the state, the minister inspected the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 42 km Abeokuta/Ajebo Road in Ogun and Section 2 of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
