Sergio Reguilon Joins Manchester United, Sofyan Amrabat Set To Join

Manchester United have signed left-back Sergio Reguilon on a season-long loan, with a break option, from Tottenham Hotspur.

The break option in Reguilon’s season-long contract can be exercised in January 2024.

Erik ten Hag was compelled to sign a left-back on loan to replace injured Luke Shaw. Sergio Reguilon became the ideal candidate after the negotiations between Chelsea and Manchester United for Marc Cucurella collapsed because Chelsea didn’t accept United’s January break option.

This signing is coming after Manchester United completed the signing of Turkish goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

After joining Manchester United on loan, Sergio Reguilon said, “I know I can contribute to Manchester United this season.

“I am ready to fight for this group and show everyone my qualities.

“In life, you have to be ready for everything and the chance to represent this great club with such an illustrious history is one that I could not turn down.

“Having spoken to the manager, I know what he needs from me, and I am ready to play my part in helping the team to achieve success.”

Reguilon has played 52 times for Tottenham in the Premier League, scoring twice. The 26-year-old Spanish defender spent the previous season on loan at Atletico Madrid.

The defender has 230 games under his belt for clubs like Real Madrid, Sevilla, Tottenham, and Atletico. He has six caps for the Spain national team.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are on the verge of signing Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a season-long loan from Fiorentina.

A deal has been reached between the two parties following discussions with the Serie A team.

Before committing to the contract, Amrabat will undergo a medical. The agreement requires United to purchase the 27-year-old player at the end of the current season.

The Moroccan midfielder has played 92 times in three seasons for Fiorentina. He was a standout for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, in which they finished fourth.
