Yahaya Bello Loses Out As Ganduje Swears In Ajaka's Replacement, Others

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has sworn in replacements for Kogi State in the National Working Committee (NWC).

Recall that the former APC Deputy Spokesperson, Murtala Ajaka, resigned from the party to pursue his gubernatorial ambition in the forthcoming Kogi election.

However, the leadership of the ruling party had named Duro Meseko and Ikani Shuaibu Okolo as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary and Zonal Organising Secretary of the North Central Zonal chapter of the party, respectively.

But the APC leadership in Kogi rejected Meseko and Okolo’s nominations, saying that it had ratified Yahaya Ade Ismail as the new deputy national publicity secretary and Isiaka Musa as the zonal organising secretary.

The state chapter claimed that the names of the officers unanimously agreed upon and sent to the national party secretariat were discarded for unknown persons in Weseko and Okolo.

The development prompted Governor Yahaya Bello and the Kogi APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, to visit Ganduje at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, who promised that the issue would be resolved.

On Friday, the Kogi APC chairman denied media reports that the governor had conceded the positions of the party’s NWC on appointments of some national officers.

However, in a post on X on Saturday, the party said it had sworn in some national officers from Kogi state into the NWC on Friday.

In one of the photos accompanying the post, Ganduje could be seen shaking hands with Meseko, who assumed the role of the party’s national deputy spokesman.
