Sokoto Governor Swears In Commissioners

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has sworn in new commissioners and formed his cabinet to help actualise his vision and agenda for the North West state.

Naija News reports that the new commissioners were inaugurated by the State Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Saidu Sifawa, at a swearing-in ceremony held at the International Conference Center in Sokoto.

The governor asked the new commissioners to brace up for the task ahead, saying that his administration had met an empty treasury and many structures were in a state of dilapidation.

Aliyu also encouraged the new commissioners to be transparent and ensure due process in the discharge of their official responsibilities going forward.

He said: “This administration is on a rescue mission, and together with their wealth of experience, we will salvage the state.

“We will work wholeheartedly with the fear of Allah, saying that no administration will work effectively and efficiently without members of the state executive who are the engine seat of any successful administration.

“I am optimistic with the calibre of people appointed as members of the state executive council; this administration will deliver the much-expected dividend of democracy to the citizens of the state.”

Speaking on the current economic situation in the country, Aliyu appealed to the people of Sokoto State to be patient as plans are being rolled out to reduce sufferings and hardships being experienced.

He said, “I want to appeal to all the good people of Sokoto State to be patient as plans are being rolled out to reduce sufferings and hardships being experienced as a result of the high cost of living and skyrocketing prices of foodstuffs and other essential commodities.”

“We are coming up with packages to mitigate the effect of subsidy removal and other hash economic policies of the government.

“I want to assure you that, my administration is committed to making sure that we deliver on the mandate given to us by the electorates, and urge you to join us in prayer for Allah to bring to an end to banditry and kidnapping that has negatively affected the lives of our people.

“We will do everything possible to alleviate the suffering of the people, “I urge you to give your maximum cooperation and support needed to move the state forward.”

Following the inauguration, Aliyu released the postings of the commissioner to different offices with the immediate past public relations of the ruling party, Bello Sambo Danchadi, posted to the Ministry of Information.
