Several reactions have trailed the election of the former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the National Chairman and the former Senate spokesman, Ajibola Basiru, as National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News earlier reported that the APC National Executive Committee (NEC), on Thursday, elected Ganduje as the National Chairman and Basiru as National Secretary.

The two chieftains of the ruling party were elected today at the 12th NEC meeting of the party held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and chieftains of the party in the National Assembly, amongst others, were present at the NEC meeting.

Recall that Ganduje and Ajibola succeeded Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore as the APC national chairman and national secretary, who resigned last month.

Reacting to the development via the micro-blogging platform Twitter, some Nigerians berated the ruling party for appointing the former governor who has been accused of corruption. While others commended the ruling party for electing Ganduje as the national chairman based on his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
