Klopp Blames Russia President Putin Over Chelsea’s Current Woes

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has risen alarm over the advantage Saudi Pro League clubs have over European clubs in terms of the duration of the transfer window.

The German tactician believes that the fact that the Saudi Arabian transfer market is open for around three weeks longer than that of Europe is “not helpful.”

The deadline for transfers in the top European leagues is September 1 while in Saudi Arabia, it is September 20.

This means that clubs in the Saudi Pro League can make more high-profile signings this summer but European clubs cannot.

Recall that Liverpool have already lost two veteran players to the Saudi Pro League club – Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq, and Fabinho to Al-Ittihad – which means that they are already victims of the Saudis revolution in the transfer market.

Losing those important players to the Saudi clubs is not a major concern for Jurgen Klopp. His major concern is the advantage the Saudi clubs have in terms of the length of their transfer window.

Hence, Klopp called on the world football governing body, FIFA, and the European Football governing body, UEFA to take action against the disparity.

On the influence of the Saudi Pro League clubs so far in the transfer market, Jurgen Klopp said, “It is massive, at the moment”.

He added, “Pretty much the worst thing I think is that the transfer window in Saudi Arabia is open three weeks longer.

“If I am right, I heard something like that, then at least in Europe that’s not helpful.

“Uefa or Fifa must find solutions for that. But in the end, at this moment, I don’t know exactly what will happen.”
