Harvey Barnes has completed his move from relegated Leicester City to Newcastle United who finished in the top four last season.

Newcastle who are earnestly preparing for life in the UEFA Champions League next season, paid Leicester City around £38 million to acquire the services of the English winger.

The 25-year-old Harvey Barnes who has one England cap, signed a five-year contract with the Magpies.

He joined Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali and Ghanaian attacker Yankuba Minteh as the team’s third summer additions.

Following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League, Barnes is the most recent player to quit the team.

With Leicester, he played in 146 Premier League games, scoring 35 goals and dishing out 25 assists.

In the 2022–2023 season, Harvey Barnes scored 13 league goals, but his effort was not enough to keep Leicester in the Premier League.

After completing his move to Newcastle United, Barnes said, “I think it’s an attacker’s dream to come into a team like this.

“I’m delighted. It’s an amazing club and for me, it’s a massive opportunity to come and be involved in a successful team that’s doing exciting things, so I’m absolutely buzzing to be here.”

Harvey Barnes’ departure comes after defender Caglar Soyuncu and fellow midfielder Youri Tielemans left Leicester on free transfers and joined Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid, respectively. In a £40 million transfer, James Maddison also left the relegated team for Tottenham.
