Algerian football icon, Riyad Mahrez will spend the 2023-2024 season in Saudi Pro League as his current club, Manchester City, have agreed to sell him to Al Ahli.

Manchester City have agreed to accept a £30 million transfer fee from the Saudi Pro League club as Mahrez has reportedly accepted the idea of moving to the middle east this summer.

Due to the ongoing transfer process, Mahrez is allowed to forego Man City’s preseason trip to South Korea and Japan to finalize the deal.

The 32-year-old Algerian international is due to undergo a medical test in Saudi Arabia this week. Afterward, the one-time best player in Africa will sign a three-year contract with Al Ahli.

Since moving from Leicester to City in 2018, Mahrez has won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three Carabao Cups, and the Champions League.

Mahrez helped Leicester win the Premier League in the 2015–2016 season, and he moved to the Etihad in the summer of 2018 for a then-club record £60 million.

If Riyad Mahrez completes his exit from Manchester City this summer, the reigning Premier League champions will be without four key members of their treble-winning squad next season.

Recall that Ilkay Gundogan has completed his move to FC Barcelona, and Kyle Walker, and Bernardo Silva are also on the verge of leaving the club this summer.

Riyad Mahrez will also be the latest superstar to move from Europe to the middle east this summer after the likes of Ruben Neves, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly and Roberto Firmino sealed deals with Saudi clubs this summer.
