My Best Birthday Gift Was Watching Daddy Showkey Perform – Burna Boy

Grammy award-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up on his favorites birthday gift.

The Afrobeats star disclosed that his most treasured birthday experience was when he was taken to a kids’ park as a child to watch legendary Nigerian musician, Daddy Showkey’s performance.

The superstar stated this in a recent chat with Ebro of Apple Music.

The Port Harcourt-born singer said his sixth studio album ‘Love, Damini’ which he released around his birthday last year, was a recreation of that happy childhood birthday experience.

He said, “You got the ‘Love, Damini’ album, you see what’s in the record: I’m happy it is my birthday. I’m bringing you into that [happiness].

“My favourite birthday ever that I can remember in life, was when I got taken to a kids’ park as a child and I got to watch Daddy Showkey perform for the first time. So, I kind of wanted to recreate that [in my album].”

Burna Boy Receives Birthday Surprise From Family Members

Meanwhile Burna Boy received received an early birthday surprise from his family in the Netherlands.

Naija News reports that the Grammy-award-winning singer, who had last month canceled his concert in Netherlands turned 32 , July 2nd, 2023.

A video sighted online, captured the moment Burna Boy’s mother, alongside other people suspected to be members of his family and fans surprised him on the stage.

Burna Boy danced in excitement as his family sang a birthday song for him.
