Kim Min-Jae Joins Bayern, Jonny Evans Returns To Manchester United

South Korean central defender, Kim Min-Jae has joined German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on a five-year deal from Napoli.

Last season, the 26-year-old Kim significantly contributed to Napoli ending a 33-year Serie A title drought.

Kim Min-Jae won the Serie A award for best defender after playing in 35 league games during his debut season in Italy.

Bayern reportedly paid 50 million euros for Kim after triggering his release clause.

He started playing football in the third division of South Korea, moved up to the top division, briefly played in the Chinese Super League, and then moved to Europe.

Kim Min-Jae moved to Napoli in the summer of 2022 from the Turkish team Fenerbahce. After a successful first full season in Italy, he made his dream move to Bayern.

“Bayern is a dream for every footballer. I’m looking forward to what’s to come”, said Kim Min-jae who has played 49 times for South Korea’s national team.

“It’s a new beginning for me. I’ll continue to develop here. In discussions with the club, it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me.”

Meanwhile, Northern Irish defender Jonny Evans has signed a short-term deal with Manchester United.

The 35-year-old, who left Leicester City at the end of the previous season, rejoined United after Eric ten Hag was impressed by the footballer’s performance while training with United’s senior team recently.

Evans played 198 games for United and won three Premier League and one Champions League trophy before he left the club in 2015.

The former Manchester United academy member initially trained with United’s Under-21s while he pondered on his options after leaving Leicester this summer.

He also took part in a few first-team workouts with United, through which Ten Hag and his coaching staff gained interest in him.

Jonny Evans will travel with United to Edinburgh to play against Lyon on Wednesday before playing against Wrexham in San Diego the following week.

As of the time of filling in this report, it was not clear how long Evans will spend with The Red Devils.
