British-Nigeria boxer Anthony Joshua rejected the opportunity to fight Cameroonian-French Mixed Martial Artist Francis Ngannou who is making efforts to land a heavyweight boxing bout.

Before now, Francis Ngannou has made it public that he is looking forward to fighting the former two times world heavyweight champion Joshua. The Cameroonian fighter even has the desire to bring a bout between him and Joshua to Africa.

However, Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said his client seems not to be interested in fighting the UFC star who wants to also be a heavyweight boxer.

“I took the (Francis Ngannou) fight to Joshua. He wasn’t interested. But I knew that there was a chance that Ngannou could fight someone. I think it’s terrible for boxing because obviously there was a chance to make the undisputed fight (between Fury and Usyk),” Hearn told FightHype.

Since Joshua denied Ngannou the privilege of recording his heavyweight boxing debut through him, the Cameroonian-french fighter has moved on to a seemingly bigger prospect.

On October 28, 2023, Ngannou will make his debut against the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The high-profile brawl is slated to take place in Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, Joshua is now getting ready for his highly awaited fight against Dillian Whyte which is scheduled to take place at the O2 Arena on August 12.

Fans are eagerly awaiting their rematch after their initial meeting, which took place in 2015 was won by Joshua.

If Joshua wins the rematch, his proposed bout with Deontay Wilder scheduled for December this year will be more certain. The proposed bout would take place in Saudi Arabia.
