It has been confirmed that Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte will fight once more in their eagerly anticipated rematch on August 12 at the O2 Arena in London.

Anthony Joshua has to beat Dillian Whyte to stand a chance of having a shot at the heavyweight title once again after losing all his belts to Oleksandr Usyk over two years ago.

On April 1, the Nigerian-British boxer Joshua defeated Jermaine Franklin on points, and Whyte knocked out the American boxer in November. With these victories over Franklin, they are prepared for a thrilling bout in August.

Ahead of the rematch, Anthony Joshua is currently training with his new trainer, Derrick James. The Nigerian-British boxer must perform very well against his fellow Briton to boost his confidence ahead of the highly anticipated bout between him and American boxer Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia in December.

While confirming his rematch against Dillian Whyte, Joshua said on Thursday, “I’ve been clear that I plan to be active this year. August 12 is the date, I’ll be ready to fight. I look forward to dealing with business”.

While Anthony Joshua’s agent, Eddie Hearn added, “I can’t quite believe this fight is happening and there was absolutely no stopping either man.

“The rivalry runs deep and there is something about these two where they will never back down from each other. At times it may have looked like a game of bluff but now we are set and with everything that’s on the line this is an absolute must-win for both. Just like the first time at The O2, get ready for fireworks on August 12 and a huge night of boxing live on DAZN.”

In the same vein, Whyte is eager to face Joshua at the London O2 Arena in August after years of back and forth over the rematch.

Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte have faced each other twice in their amateur and professional careers. The first time they met was in 2009 when they were both amateurs and Whyte took the day.

In 2015, Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte faced each other for the second time but this time around, they were both professionals. At the end of the thrilling bout, Joshua emerged victorious. Hence, the August 12 clash between the two Britons will determine who is a better boxer.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the London O2 on August 12 and going to war. It’s 1-1 so this is the decider!” Whyte said.
