A magistrate court in Gidan Murtala, Kano State, has ordered a citizen to kill his male chicken (cockerel) for allegedly causing a nuisance in the area he lived.

Naija News learnt that a neighbour, Yusuf Muhammad Ja’en, filed a complaint at the court, complaining that Isyaku Shu’aibu’s chicken deprived the neighbourhood of their deserved rest, causing a nuisance always.

Ja’en alleged that the Cockerel crowed too much, giving them no peace. Having heard from both sides during a sitting on Tuesday, the Magistrate, Halima Wali, gave Yusuf till Friday to kill the cockerel.

However, Shu’aibu reportedly told the court that he had bought the bird to celebrate Good Friday and pleaded with the court to allow him to keep it until the Christian holy day before killing it for a family feast.

Judge Wali heeded his plea but warned him against allowing the fowl to roam the area and disturb residents.
