'You Created It' - Adeleke Replies APC Over Portfolio, Controversial SSA Appointments

Governor Ademola Adeleke has been called out by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State over rising insecurity under his administration.

In a statement issued on Monday through Osun State acting chairman of the APC, Tajudeen Lawal, the party criticized the incumbent leader for allegedly keeping mum over kidnapping incidents recently under his administration.

APC called on Adeleke to stop treating with levity security issues affecting the state, Naija News reports. It said the insecurity in Osun became worrisome, particularly before, during and after the general elections across the country.

Lawal recalled how no fewer than 30 members of the opposition APC members were allegedly killed by thugs, reportedly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While insisting that Governor Adeleke is not getting it right in securing the lives of residents and their property, the party lamented that in the past week, specifically on Wednesday and Friday, two kidnapping incidents occurred along the Osogbo-Ikirun road.

Lawal said: “As of the time of making this statement with the exception of a woman whose release was secured by the police on Sunday, the victims were said to still be in captivity.

“A caring governor would have either condemned the two kidnapping incidents in his territory within three days or rushed back from Abuja as the number one security officer of the state.

“It is saddening that as I speak, Governor Adeleke has no comment of condemnation to his credit on all the murder incidents that happened so far in his four-month-old administration.

“His handling of Osun affairs has shown that governance of a state is not a tea party which is the reason why it is not the best arrangement to make the state a laboratory for greenhorns in the management of the affairs of human beings and resources,” the acting state APC chairman hinted.”

The Osun APC justified its claim of thuggery activities being on the rise by narrating how Governor Adeleke denied being attacked by thugs, only for them to be arraigned in court.

Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman In Osun

Meanwhile, the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Osun State have rescued a woman who was abducted days ago by unknown gunmen.

Naija News learnt that the woman was among the victims of an ambush on passengers of a commercial vehicle along the Osogbo-Ikirun Road during the weekend.

The citizens were on a journey on Friday morning when kidnappers reportedly ambushed their vehicle at Ayepe Community along the Osogbo-Ikirun Road.

Confirming the rescue of one of the victims, the Osun State command of the Nigeria Police Force, through its spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, revealed that operations to free other abducted passengers have commenced.

Opalola also revealed that the driver of the vehicle that was attacked by the gunmen had been found.

“The operatives rescued the kidnap victim of Ikirun/Osogbo Road abduction that occurred on Friday.

“The woman has been rescued alive and taken to the hospital for necessary medical attention,” Daily Post quoted the police spokesperson saying.
