Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman In Osun

The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Osun State have rescued a woman who was abducted days ago by unknown gunmen.

Naija News learnt that the woman was among the victims of an ambush on passengers of a commercial vehicle along the Osogbo-Ikirun Road during the weekend.

The citizens were on a journey on Friday morning when kidnappers reportedly ambushed their vehicle at Ayepe Community along the Osogbo-Ikirun Road.

Confirming the rescue of one of the victims, the Osun State command of the Nigeria Police Force, through its spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, revealed that operations to free other abducted passengers have commenced.

Opalola also revealed that the driver of the vehicle that was attacked by the gunmen had been found.

“The operatives rescued the kidnap victim of Ikirun/Osogbo Road abduction that occurred on Friday.

“The woman has been rescued alive and taken to the hospital for necessary medical attention,” Daily Post quoted the police spokesperson saying.

Vehicle Conveying Prisoners Involved In Accident In Osun State

Barely a week ago, a correctional centre truck conveying prison inmates to the State High Court in Osun State was involved in an accident.

Naija News learnt that the incident caused palpable tension in Osogbo, the state capital, as the truck reportedly rammed into a commercial minibus, injuring two persons.

Commercial motorcyclists and some angry youths in the area are said to have staged protests due to the occurrence, blocking the popular Olaiya Junction in protest.

An eyewitness who spoke to The PUNCH revealed that the correctional truck driver refused to obey a traffic light that had signalled him to stop and, in the process, hit a minibus, leaving the driver and one of the passengers injured.

When this report was filed, Police drafted to the scene had dispersed the protesters with teargas.
