NYSC Has Not United Nigeria - Shehu Sani Tackles Scheme's DG

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has rejected the outcome of the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna State.

Senator Sani in a statement on Tuesday said the final result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is not an expression of the position of the people of Kaduna State.

Naija News recalls the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Uba Sani, was declared the winner of the Kaduna State governorship election on Tuesday.

He scored the highest votes to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Isa Ashiru, and other candidates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said Sani polled a total of 730,002 votes to defeat Ashiru, who polled 719,196 votes.

The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Jonathan Asake came a distant third after polling 58,283 votes while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Suleiman Hunkuyi scored 21,405 votes.

Declaring the result, the State Collation Officer for the gubernatorial election, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis said the number of registered voters in the state is 4,335,208, accredited voters are 1,581,662, valid votes cast are 1,546,747 invalid votes cast are 19,114 and total votes cast are 1,565,861.

However, Sani alleged that the APC and INEC colluded to arrive at the fake result. He also appreciated all those who voted for his party, the PDP.

He wrote on Twitter: “Kaduna Governorship election; not expression of the people but of Kaduna Apc & Kaduna inec consortium. We thank & appreciate the courage of those who rejected tyranny & gave us their untainted votes. The candidate will make public his next line of action as he deems. Thank you all.”
