BREAKING: INEC Declares Winner Of Kaduna Governorship Election

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Uba Sani, has been declared the winner of the Kaduna State governorship election.

Naija News reports that Sani scored the highest votes to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Isa Ashiru, and other candidates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said Sani polled a total of 730,002 votes to defeat Ashiru, who polled 719,196 votes.

The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Jonathan Asake came a distant third after polling 58,283 votes while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Suleiman Hunkuyi scored 21,405 votes.

Declaring the result, the State Collation Officer for the gubernatorial election, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis said the number of registered voters in the state is 4,335,208, accredited voters are 1,581,662, valid votes cast are 1,546,747 invalid votes cast are 19,114 and total votes cast are 1,565,861.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier postponed the announcement of results to 6 pm to allow the result from Kudan Local Government Area to come in.
