All the roads and access points leading to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Kano State have been blocked by security operatives with metal wires and armoured vehicles.

The governorship election in the state is closely contested by the candidates of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje whose tenure would come to an end in May would be handing over to another Governor in the state.

Meanwhile, the decision of the security operatives to block the roads has seen residents of the areas adjacent INEC office stranded as they are now restricted to their houses.

The DSS officials at the gate that spoke with Daily Trust disclosed that “based on orders from above” access to the collation centre would be from 1:30 pm.
