JUST IN: Sokoto PDP Women Leader Decamps To APC Three Days To Guber Election
Hajiya Kulu Rabah received into APC

The Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has just witnessed a setback three days before the 2023 governorship election as the party’s women leader, Hajiya Kulu Rabah, decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She was reportedly received into the APC by the state leader of the party, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

This is happening amid the reshuffle by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the results of the national assembly elections in the state are still being expected as of the time of filing this report.

There are expectations that Sokoto will be under the radar during Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections due to the development.

Naija News understands that INEC barred the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the state from Saturday’s elections, citing the controversy that arose during the February 25th election.

Top PDP Chieftains Defects To APC In Katsina Ahead Of March 11 Guber Elections

Meanwhile, some chieftains of the PDP have reportedly withdrawn their membership and declared allegiance to the APC in Katsina State ahead of the March 11 governorship elections.

Reports obtained by Naija News revealed that seven top members of the PDP and about ten thousand of their supporters joined the ruling party in Katsina on Tuesday.

The development was confirmed to newsmen by the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council in the state, Ahmed Musa-Dangiwa.

Addressing reporters, Musa-Dangiwa noted that Katsina Governor Aminu Masari received the former PDP members. He also disclosed that most of the defectors are close associates of the former governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema.

“Among them was Alhaji Bashir Tanimu-Dutsinma, former personal assistant to Shema, former local government chairman and also a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Northwest zonal caucus,’’ he said.

He added that the others were prominent political leaders and business moguls in Katsina State. According to Musa-Dangiwa, the defection was a great sign of success for the APC at the state’s March 11 governorship and House of Assembly elections.
