The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, reportedly led over one thousand members of various political parties into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, who confirmed the development, the APC chieftain welcomed onboard the defectors from four political parties, including the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Labour Party (LP); New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Naija News learnt that the defectors were received yesterday in Potiskum town, the largest city in Yobe.

At the event, Governor Buni assured the new members of equal rights with existing members, stressing that APC believes in one united Nigeria.

On his part, the Zonal Vice Chairman of the party, Baba Usman Arlaji, congratulated the defectors and also assured to carry the new members along in all the party’s activities, while also calling on members of other political parties to join the ruling APC in order to move the state forward.

The Director General of APC Campaign Council, Sen. Mohammed Hassan (aka Dambu), represented by the Zonal Director Campaign Council, Prof. Bello Kawuwa, also urged the new members to sensitize their colleagues in their former parties to come out and vote for APC at all levels of the elections.
