Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, who left the pitch during Napoli’s 2-0 victory against Sassuolo on Friday, February 17, has insisted that he was not injured contrary to viral reports.

The 24-year-old Victor Osimhen was replaced in the 84th minute of the Partenopei’s triumph over the Neroverdi at the Mapei Stadium. He grimaced a little and pointed to his thigh as he spoke to the Napoli staff, giving the impression that he had hurt himself.

Napoli’s fans at the Stadium rapidly became concerned that they would lose their star striker to injury before a crucial round of 16 Champions League encounters against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, February 21.

To the relief of the club’s supporters, Osimhen took to Twitter to reassure the club fans of his fitness. He replied to a supporter via the comment section of a Twitter post that his injury was not serious and that he was fine.

Several supporters were perplexed as to why the 24-year-old Nigerian player wasn’t substituted earlier in the second half and vented their dissatisfaction with Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti.

Osimhen’s strike partner, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was substituted in the 78th minute of the game, which some fans felt was a little late since they wanted to minimize the possibility of their star combination suffering an injury.

The greatest relief for the fans would be to see their star striker, Osimhen, and his strike partner, Kvaratskhelia file out on Tuesday night for the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clashes with Frankfurt at 21:00 on Tuesday.
