G5 Governors Knew About Atiku's Visit To Ugwuanyi- Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said the visit of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PD), Atiku Abubakar, to his Enugu counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, didn’t come as a surprise to the five aggrieved governors of the party.

Naija News reports that the G5 is made up of five aggrieved governors including Wike, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

The five governors have been consistent in their demand that Ayu steps down as PDP national chairman as a precondition for them to support the 2023 presidential ambition of Atiku.

Recall that Ugwuanyi had on Tuesday received Atiku at the Government House in Enugu, after the PDP presidential campaign rally at the Michael Okpara Square.

But the governor was not present at the presidential rally following their resolution of the five PDP governors not to work with the party’s flagbearer.

In a media chat on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Wike said the five governors knew about the visit even before the former Vice President went to meet Ugwuanyi.

The Rivers governor added that receiving Atiku does not mean that Ugwuanyi had left the G5.

Wike said: “Even before the Enugu governor received him (Atiku) in Government House, we knew about it.

“We cannot tell you the approach. Forget about what people are saying, the 25th is here. Everybody will see it.”
