Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State was absent from the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday.

Naija News reported that PDP held its presidential rally at the Micheal Okpara square to solicit votes for Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.

Although the governor was not at the venue of the campaign rally, he was, however, present when the PDP presidential candidate visited the Government House in Enugu.

Governor Ugwuanyi also led Atiku and the PDP presidential campaign team to a meeting with traditional rulers in the state.

Ugwuanyi, who is one of the five aggrieved PDP governors, popularly known as G5, also joined his counterparts who have been absent from Atiku’s campaign rallies across the country.

Other members of the G5 governors are Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia. The governors also have some party leaders backing them.

The G5 governors are demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the party’s National Chairman. The demand for Ayu’s resignation is premised on the grounds that the party’s standard-bearer and national chairman should not come from the same region.
