The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has led other stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state to flag off the party’s campaign.

Naija News reports that the governor on Thursday at the kick-off of the state’s campaign rallies for the PDP said the party’s governorship candidate, Titus Uba is well-groomed to take over from him and lead the State to greater heights.

Ortom at separate rallies in Ugba, Sankera and Katsina-Ala told party faithful that Uba has demonstrated competence to lead the state because he managed successfully the legislative arm of governance without crisis when he was a two-term speaker of the Benue State House Assembly.

Therefore, the governor appealed to the people of the state to come in their numbers to vote for Uba and other PDP candidates in the state at the forthcoming election.

Ortom also appealed to the people to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) from INEC to vote at the polls, noting that he was happy about the massive turnout to welcome the campaign trail.

He as well urged that those who were collaborating with enemies of the State to deceive Benue people should be shunned.

Speaking during the campaign tour, the PDP governorship candidate, Uba said the kick-off of the campaign train in Sankera was important to him because it was his maternal birthplace.

Uba advanced that if elected as governor at the polls his major focus in Sankere would be in the areas of security and agriculture.

The PDP chieftain who promised to build on what Ortom has achieved if elected noted that the governor and the Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam has made the campaigns easier for the party in Zone A senatorial district by the quantum of infrastructural development in the senatorial district.

He said their achievements in this area have given the people a good reason to vote for the PDP and its candidates in the state.

Other party chieftains present at the campaign tour were the Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, Uba’s running mate, Sir John Ngbede, Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam, the Acting State Chairman of PDP, Isaac Mffo.
