Police Storm Kidnappers’ Hideout In Anambra, Rescue Victim

Men of the Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State have apprehended a teenage kidnapper identified as Aliyu Salisu.

It was gathered that the 19-year-old suspect led his gang in the kidnapping of a six-year-old girl in Kano State and fled with her to an unknown location, demanding a ransom for her release.

Naija News learnt that Salisu and his team members, Abdulrazak Ibrahim and Mohammed Ibrahim, all of the same age, kidnapped their victim, Fatima Abubakar, from Bachirawa quarters in Kano on January 6, 2023.

They were demanding the sum of N2 million as ransom from the girls’ parents before the Katsina State Police Command swung into action after receiving intelligence on the development.

In their chase, they arrested Salisu while receiving the ransom. His arrest reportedly led to the arrest of other members of the syndicate.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Kasina police command said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are completed.

‘Govt Has Abandoned Our Children’ – Parents Of Kidnaped Students Resolve To Sell Belongings To Pay Ransom

Meanwhile, the parents of kidnapped schoolgirls have accused both the Kebbi state and Nigerian governments of abandoning their children in captivity as they resolve to sell personal belongings to pay the N100 million ransom demanded by terrorists.

Naija News recalls that some bandits attacked Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi on June 17, 2021, and abducted over 100 students and eight teachers from the school.

However, some of the students escaped from the gunmen during the abduction while others were rescued by security operatives.

The bandits on October 21, 2021, released 30 of the abducted students and since then no fewer than 11 students are still in their custody for about 18 months.

According to SaharaReporters, the spokesperson for the 11 parents, Salim Ka’oje, said they have resolved to sell their personal belongings including houses, farmland, and other items to raise the demanded ransom of N100 million.

The parents also called on the United Nations, UNICEF, the United States, the United Kingdom, and kindhearted Nigerians to urge President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to negotiate the release of their children.

Ka’oje added that the parents on their own reached out to the mother of the leader of the bandits who helped to negotiate the terms of release.

He said: “We met on January 8, 2023, to discuss how to secure the release of our children since their abduction over one year ago.

“Since the authorities have abandoned our children, we resigned ourselves to our fate, and luckily, we contacted the mother of the leader of the bandits who helped to negotiate the terms for us.

“We have resolved to sell our personal belongings, including houses, farmlands, vehicles, etc. to rescue our children because they (bandits) have warned that they’ll kill the 11 girls if we fail to raise the ransom”
