2023 Presidency: 'You're A Chronic Liar' - Okowa Fires Omo-Agege

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has come under fire for allegedly betraying the chances of the southern presidency.

Naija News reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege made the claim on Thursday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

He said even though the Okowa, who is the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was part of the leaders who advocate for a southern presidency, he betrayed his people by accepting to be vice.

According to him, Okowa was one of the region’s leaders who led the charge and met in Asaba and Lagos state to demand the southern presidency.

Omo-Agege submitted that it was only fair and equitable that President Buhari’s successor comes from the south.

He stated that “Okowa betrayed that course by selling away our right, and instead going for Vice President when the country is offering us the presidency.

”So our people are not taking this treachery kindly and are determined that they will punish him.”

The APC chieftain also accused the governor of not implementing the N30,000 minimum wage despite all the huge appropriations received from the federal government.

He alleged that Okowa’s government since assuming office in 2015 has close to N4.2 trillion in the state, but there is nothing to show for it.

Explaining where the monies came from, he said “This came by way of federal allocation, 13 %derivation, and also about N400billion the State has borrowed.’’

He bemoaned the state and condition of the oil-rich state despite receiving all the huge monies, adding that Okowa’s administration failed to pay gratuities and pensions.

Omo-Agege claimed that despite Okowa being a medical doctor, the health sector in Delta was below the mark.

The lawmaker also dismissed the notion that Delta is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state.

“That is a very serious misconception. Delta is very ripe for the taking,” he added.
