Confusion Trails Purported Death Of Ohanaeze President-General, George Obiozor

Different speculations have continued to trail the purported death of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, George Obiozor.

Naija News reports that a chieftain of Ohanaeze who spoke to DAILY POST on Wednesday claimed Obiozor died on Monday, December 26, 2022 but his death is yet to be made public.

This comes after the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Alex Ogbonnia, on Tuesday revealed that Obiozor is very much alive after rumours emerged of the latter’s death.

However, the aforementioned source said the leader of the popular South-East group, who has been sick for a while died of a heart-related disease.

The source added that it is not in the tradition of the apex Igbo body to announce Obiozor’s death but would remain silent until his family makes the announcement.

The source said: “The man is dead but it’s not in our tradition to announce such death even when we have such information, we allow the family members to make such an announcement.

“He died on Monday of heart-related disease. I’m not specific about where he died but he travelled abroad and returned to Lagos.

“I was called in the early hours of December 26th that he died in the early hours.”

Oyo APC Chieftain, Adigun Is Dead

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Noah Adigun, has been confirmed dead.

The party confirmed Adigun’s demise in a statement on Wednesday morning, noting that the politician died after battling diabetes for a few days.

Naija News understands that the deceased was a former Ogbomoso North Local Government Area Chairman.

Adigun who is fondly known as Oba Ni Jesu, died on Tuesday, December 27 at age 70. The statement released by his party stated that the former council chairman died in a hospital where he had been on admission for diabetes complications for about a month.

Adigun was said to have been elected chairman of the local government area on the platform of the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) over two decades ago.

The deceased hailed from the Ologolo royal family of the Soun of Ogbomoso but grew up in the Oponlu compound of Okelerin.
