JUST IN: PDP Group Calls For Review Of 2023 Election Performance

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has approved the request of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to use the Muhammad Dikko Stadium for its presidential, governorship, and other campaign rallies.

The nation’s main opposition party had scheduled Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign in the state for Tuesday but reported earlier that the All Progressives Congress (APC) rejected its request to use the stadium for their rally.

The Director-General of Katsina PDP Campaign Council, Mustapha Muhammed Inuwa, confirmed the rejection while addressing the press earlier.

According to Inuwa, the council wrote twice to the government seeking for permission to use the facility for the scheduled campaign, to no avail.

He said the government claimed repair work was ongoing at the stadium; hence it can’t be used for the event. Inuwa added that the two other locations provided by the government were not convenient.

However, the Permanent Secretary of Political and Common Service in the state, Alhaji Suleiman Kankia, revealed in a statement obtained by Naija News on Tuesday morning that the Governor has approved the use of the proposed venue for PDP rallies.

He said: “Further to our letter dated Dec. 13, 2022, and having achieved substantial progress in the repair works at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, His Excellency, Gov. Aminu Masari has approved the use of the facility by the PDP for its Presidential Campaign rally scheduled to hold on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

“The above approval has been conveyed to the commissioner for Sports and Social Development, for further necessary action.”
