Police Invite Ihedioha, Others Over Kidnapping, Murder Allegations

Former governor of Imo State and chairman of the Atiku Presidential campaign Council in the state, Emeka Ihedioha, has boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win massively in the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of members of the Council at the party’s Secretariat in Owerri on Thursday, Ihedioha said the PDP would defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) in 2023.

According to the former governor sacked by the Supreme Court, the state has been predominantly PDP since 1999 and so had good chances of winning the 2023 general elections at all levels.

Ihedioha said: “We must get this very clear. First, we have all accepted the responsibility of marketing and campaigning for election of our presidential candidate, Atiku. The fact is Imo State has always delivered PDP almost 100 per cent since 1999 and 2023 will not be an expectation.

“I call on all of us to go back to our wards and local governments and work. Elections are not won in the party secretariat in Owerri. We must work hard, in unity and togetherness for us to deliver our candidates. Again, let us eschew bitterness and disunity.”

Speaking earlier at the inauguration, the Imo State PDP chairman, Charles Ugwu, who inaugurated members of PCC, urged members to work in unity for the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar.

He said: “We expect you to be dedicated so that our presidential candidate will be announced winner. Also, we have 27 House of Assembly candidates, 10 House of Representatives candidates and three senatorial candidates. Our collective duty is to make sure all of them are returned.”
