Hoodlums Open Fire On EFCC Officials In Imo, Abuja

An ex labour leader and a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, Faruk Mohammed Kunini, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the Taraba State House of Assembly over the continuous approval of loan request by the Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku, without any project to point at.

Kunini, who made the call on Tuesday in Jalingo, lamented that the legislatures have derailed from their constitutional responsibilities by dancing to the dictates of the governor.

He alleged that the assembly members were only concerned about approving loans for the governor and getting their percentages.

Many unwholesome activities are going on in government agencies without recourse to the repercurtion and the assembly has looked the other way.

“Taraba state assembly members have no effect on the people of the state, they are only there to approve any loan request submitted by governor Ishaku to get their own percent.

“They have become rubber stamps of the governor because for the sweet test of the loans percentages. They only do the desire of the governor without minding the masses interest and the development of Taraba state.

“While I urge the EFCC to investigate the house, I wish to categorically state here that the underdevelopment of Taraba state especially within the last seven years of governor Darius Ishaku is due to the failure of members of the State House of Assembly to properly carry out their statutory responsibilities.

“The local governments councils are being surcharged by the governor through the members, the governor has turned the finances of the Councils as a personal property which is swindled at will, through the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs“. Faruk alleged.

But when contacted for reaction, the Speaker Taraba State House of Assembly, Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini, did not answer or return several calls put to his mobile phone by our correspondent.
