Herdsmen, suspected to be of Fulani origin, on Thursday attacked villages in Ayilamo, Logo local government area of Benue state.

A local, Mr. Godwin Agia who escaped but lost two of his younger brothers told Naija News that the attackers invaded the community at about 7:am when people were preparing to go to the farm.

“Herdsmen are attacking our community as we speak now. Two of my younger brothers have been killed and three others.

“They came since 7:am and up till now they are attacking more villages.

“I can not exactly tell how many people they have killed but the attack is still on,” Agia narrated.

Our correspondent reports that Ayilamo is a neighbouring town to the village of the immediate past governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam who is now the Senator representing Benue North East.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene were not successful as her phone rang out without getting picked.
