APC: May The Lord Save Wike Like He Saved Jonathan - Shehu Sani Prays
River State Governor Nyesom Wike and Senator Shehu Sani

A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has asked the Lord to save Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, from the ‘schemes’ of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sani, who was reacting to the recent meetings of top stakeholders in the APC with Wike, recalled that the ruling party chieftains held a series of closed-door meetings with former President Goodluck Jonathan in an attempt to woo him into their camp.

According to him, APC men visited Jonathan with milk and honey to see him dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their camp but the Lord delivered him.

Sani, in a Twitter post on Sunday morning, prayed that Wike will also not yield to the APC.

He tweeted: “The ruling party men visited GEJ with milk & Honey until the Lord saveth him. May the Lord saveth Bro Wike.”

APC: Babachir, Dogara Clear Air On Why They Visited Wike

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and the ex-Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara have explained why they visited Governor Wike over the weekend.

Naija News reports that the APC chieftains on Saturday held a closed-door meeting with Wike at his residence in Rumueprikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday.

The closed-door meeting had drawn reactions with many suggesting that it was political as it came barely 24 hours after Wike broke his silence about the PDP’s presidential primary, where former Vice President, Atiku Abubarkar, emerged as the party’s candidate.

Speaking, however, in a telephone interview with The PUNCH Babachir said himself, Dogara and other party stakeholders were free to visit anybody.

According to him, people making the wrong impression about the visit should understand that he worked with the governors while he served as the SGF.

Babachir said: “We are free to visit anyone in the country. Those insinuating anything should know that I was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and I worked with all the governors.

“So, we are free to visit anyone. Everything is not political and those insinuating anything outside this are free to continue.”
