According to reports from the area, before last night’s heavy rainfall, the community last witnessed such rain that lasted several hours seventy years ago when the community was almost washed away.

Last night’s downpour has affected a lot of households who are mainly farmers and are now taking refuge in nearby villages.

One of the victims, Abduljamel Wazari said since he was born about 58 years ago, “I have never seen such a rainfall that refuses to stop.”

Adding that ” It is very surprising to most of us, we have never been warned that this area is flood area, we are now salvaging from the disaster”.

The District Head of Kirchinga, whose district the community falls in, Alhaji Abdulkadir Maina, Mai Borno Mubi in a telephone interview said “this flooding is new to me and my people of this community, we are confused now”.

He, however, called on the government at all levels, philanthropists and other organizations to come to the aid of the victims by supplying relief materials.
