After One Year, Benue Residents Beg FG Over Abandoned 118 km Makurdi-Naka-Adoka Ankpa Road Project

The Tor Tiv and Chairman Benue state council of chief, HRM. Orchivirigh, Prof. James Ayatse on Wednesday ordered the Lagos State chapter of the Mdzough u Tiv to conduct election into leadership positions of the organization within two weeks.

This follows the resolution of the Board of Trustees of Mdzough u Tiv during its 2022 meeting with the Tor Tiv, in his Palace in Gboko Benue state.

A statement issued to journalists by the special assistant to the monarch on Media/ICT, Fred Adamgbe quoted the Tor Tiv as resolving that the leadership of the Lagos State chapter headed by Mr Simon Kwaghbo should continue to operate in the interim capacity pending when the new leadership would be elected within the directed period of two weeks.

Naija News reports that the Paramount ruler had earlier in 2021 suspended the Lagos State chapter of the Mdzough u Tiv over leadership tussle.

“I hereby give you two weeks to commence the process of appointing a new leadership and it should complete within two weeks and the president of the association must emerge from Sankera Intermediate Area.

“There must not be victimization, defamation of character or any ill-feeling against any member of the organisation on account of his or her role during the process of selecting the leaders while it lasted.

“I sincerely commended the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the AIG Zone 2 Lagos, Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, the Director, DSS Lagos State and others for their intervention which had prevented the crisis from degenerating to an unhealthy level,” the statement read.

Our correspondent also reports that the meeting which was presided over by the Tor Tiv, had stakeholders of Lagos State chapter of the organisation as well as the national leadership of Mdzough u Tiv in attendance.
