The Contractor, AG Vision handling the Yola-Mubi road rehabilitation has been given an ultimatum to return to site immediately or face the consequences.

Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha gave the warning while on an inspection tour of federal government roads under rehabilitation and construction in Adamawa state during the Sallah holidays.

The SGF visibly expressed his displeasure over the level of work so far done by the company despite the huge amount so far paid by the Federal government, noting that the work so far done by AG Vision is not commensurate with what the federal government has paid to the company.

“I am very disappointed with the level of work here, It is government that owes contractors and not contractor peeing government.”

“This contract of Yola-Mubi road was awarded to AG Vision in 2017 for N22 billion because of the slow pace of work, there was a review and this year another N29billion was approved, we do not want another review, the company must return to site or face the consequences,” SGF said.

Also speaking, the Minister of Transport who is overseeing the Ministry of Works, Alhaji Mua’zu Sambo Aji said the level of work is not acceptable, ” your company is exhibiting incompetence”.

Engr. Francis Musa, the site engineer of the company said the work stopped because of the Sallah break and they will be back to work next week.

“I want to also assure the Federal government that the work will be completed as funds come in,” he said.

The SGF said the federal government remain committed to giving Nigerians good roads and other infrastructure stressing that government has made plans with the NNPC to also make funds available for this project because of the strategic position of the road which is an international road and a link to Borno state.

The SGF also used the period to commiserate with the Lamido Adamawa, Alhaji Barikindo Aliyu Mustphar and the people of the state over the death of Mohammed Sanusi Barikindo, OPEC Secretary-General who died last week.
