Fintiri Lauds Military For Their Deligence And Valiance In Combating Security Challenges




The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri lauded the military for their diligence and valiance in combating the myriads of security challenges bedevilling the country.

At the end of the competition, 23rd-armoured brigade Yola emerged as the overall winner of the 3-division inter brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commission Officers (WOs/SNCOs).

Six brigades from the division including 6 brigade Jalingo, 23 brigade Yola, 33 artillery brigade Bauchi, 43 engineering brigade Jos, 53 signal brigade Jos and 3 division garrison Jos participated in the 4-day competition which kicked off on Tuesday.

The six military formations competed in five main events including drill, map reading, combat swimming, weapon handling and obstacle crossing.

Announcing the results of the competition, the 3 division training officer and chief umpire of the competition, Brigadier Gen S. Adamu urged the competitors to accept the outcome in good faith.

He noted that the 23 armoured brigades scored 56 points to emerge overall winner and clinched the wooden spoon while 43 engineering Brigades emerged second just as 53 brigades emerged third.

He noted that the competition aims to improve leadership skills, organizational abilities, and endurance and to promote esprit-de-corps among the personnel.

“The five events were keenly contested by the formations. The events include drill, map reading, combat swimming, weapon handling and obstacle crossing which we just witnessed.

“The awards are in three categories, the first is individual performance award, the second is the best three formations in all the five events and lastly the best three overall formations and the last formation which will get the almighty wooden spoon.”

In his remark, the brigade commander of 23 armoured brigades Yola, Brigadier General Aminu Mustapha Garba thanked God for ensuring a hitch and injury-free competition.

He thanked governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his support of the Brigade.

Garba also extended appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya and the GOC 3 division Major Gen I.S Ali for their relentless support to the brigade.

He said, “Our appreciation also goes to the commander 153 base services group for providing us with the team of expert judges and seasoned instructors for various events during this competition not forgetting the efforts of the chief umpire who virtually coordinated the competition from A to Z.”
