EPL: Man United To Replace Maguire With Chelsea’s Top Defender

Manchester United is reportedly making moves to sign Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger.

Naija News understands lately, there have been arguments on the performance of Red Devils’ captain, Harry Maguire.

The England international has been rated poorly this season at Old Trafford and his role is believed to be undermined within the dressing room.

The English Premier League side is hoping to get a replacement for the 28-year-old and Rudiger is said to be on its priority list.

United Interim coach, Ralf Rangnick has publicly backed Maguire but is exploring options to replace the player in central defence.

Naija News understands that Rudiger is into the final months of his current deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Germany international has already rejected several offers from the Blues, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also keen on signing him.

However, Rangnick who happens to be a huge admirer of his compatriot is reportedly ready to splash fortune to get him signed to United.

While Rudiger is reportedly seeking a deal worth £400,000-a-week, United know it could cost them more to bring in a player of Rudiger’s calibre if they are to make a major change at the back this summer.

Meanwhile, European football governing body, UEFA on Friday ruled out Russia’s St. Petersburg stadium as the venue for this season’s Champions League final.

Naija News understands that the decision was a form of punishment and expression of disappointment over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in the last 48hours.
