The elder sister of Rofiat, the young girl who was slaughtered and burnt after her boyfriend, Soliu Majekodumi, and three of his friends, lured her to his house in Oke-Aregna  for ritual purposes, says the family is yet to tell their mother of the gruesome murder.

Naija News earlier reported that there was confusion in Oke Aregba community in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Saturday, when some teenage boys were caught burning the skull of a girl, said to be in a relationship with one of them, for alleged money rituals.

It was gathered that community security guard, one Segun Adewusi was said to have observed that some boys were burning something suspicious in a local pot.

The security guard immediately alerted the police at Adatan station, who went to the scene and arrested three of the boys while Soliu, the leader of the gang had fled before police arrived.

The slain girl was a resident of Idi-Ape Abeokuta and was a girlfriend to Soliu, who is now in police net.

Speaking in an interview with Punch, Rofiat’s sister, Okeowo, recounted the last moments with her sister before she was lured from their house.

She said late Rofiat was asked to make beans for the family to eat for dinner. After putting the pot of beans on the fire in the evening, the deceased took permission from her to go out, to which she agreed. She said she had no idea where she was going.

When it was around 8:30pm, I called her number and asked if she was coming home tonight. She said she was already on her way and almost home. So, I went to bed. Around 10:00pm, I called her, only to discover that her number was no longer reachable. I asked her mother if she had seen her daughter, she said no. The following morning, I asked her mother again and she gave the same response.

“It was later in the day that I heard that a lady was killed and beheaded in the community. I was suspicious at that moment since I had not seen Rofiat.”

She said when she saw the viral video showing the suspects that beheaded the lady, she recognized one of them. This prompted her to carry a photo of the deceased to Adatan Police Station where the Divisional Police Officer told them that she had been murdered.

She said their mother, who is suffering from hypertension, has not been informed of the situation because they are afraid something might happen to her if the news was broken to her.
