Troops Rescue Three Kidnapped Students Of Plateau State Polytechnic

The Nigerian Military has confirmed the rescue of three students of the Plateau State Polytechnic by troops of Operation Safe Haven deployed at Barkin Ladi.

The military statement on Thursday which confirmed the development was signed by Major Ishaku Takwa, the Military Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

He noted in the statement that the students were kidnapped on Wednesday 12 January 2022 but have been rescued
unharmed by the troops.

Naija News reports the students were rescued at an abandoned poultry farm and have been reunited with their families.

“The troops deployed at Nding Sesut a remote community in Barikin Ladi noticed an unusual movement of persons during patrols. Troops immediately conducted a cordon and search in the general area that led to the rescue of the three students at an abandoned poultry farm.

The victims have since been united with their families. Manhunt to apprehend the suspects is still ongoing,” the statement read in part.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by this online medium that two female students of the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi Campus, have been kidnapped by some gunmen.

It was gathered that the students were abducted and whisked to an unknown destination during an invasion of a hostel known as ‘Plateau Embassy’ on Thursday.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the state Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said the students were actually kidnapped in Ban Village and one suspect has been arrested.

Ubah added that troops of Operation Safe Haven have been informed and they have mobilized their men to the general area.

However, the management of the institution later denied reports that two of its students were kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be terrorists.

Speaking with Vanguard, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Matthew Dokotri, confirmed that there was a misunderstanding between some students but not an abduction.

Dokotri disclosed that the incident is being investigated by the Police and the outcome of the investigation would be made public.
