“Terror Is On The Edges Of Our City” – Shehu Sani Reacts To Bandits’ Attack On FAAN Quarters

Gunmen Attack Kogi Hospital, Abduct Doctor

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has expressed serious concerns over Saturday’s attack by bandits on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) quarters in Kaduna.

The former lawmaker lamented that it gives worrying concerns for such a criminal attack to have occurred successfully close to many security formations.

According to him, the attack and kidnap of innocent citizens by the bandits that attacked the FAAN headquarters on Saturday is tragic and unfortunate.

Recall Naija News earlier reported that gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) quarters in Kaduna, abducting about nine persons.

The bandits reportedly accessed the quarters through the airport runway at about 12.30 am on Saturday, abducting nine people including a whole family of six, a housewife, and her two children.

It was gathered that the incident lasted for hours as military personnel engaged the bandits, but sadly the attackers had their way.

According to TVC News, the bandits later went away on motorcycles with their abductees.

This is the first time the FAAN quarters is experiencing such an attack despite growing security concerns in the state.

Reacting to the incident, Sani in a Twitter post lamented that terror is now on the edges of our city.

He wrote: “The attacks on the Federal Airport Quarters Kaduna and the kidnapping of scores of people is tragic and unfortunate. The proximity of the scene of the crime to the Airport, security formations, and the Defence academy, raises questions. The terror is on the edges of our city.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has denied claims that four soldiers were killed on Thursday when bandits attacked a military base in Katsina State.

The Army in an official statement released on Saturday by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Mohammed Yerima confirmed the clash between bandits and soldiers in Katsina on Thursday, but denied the killing of four soldiers during the clash.

Making reference to the earlier report by Daily Trust on the incident, the Army spokesperson denied the killing of four soldiers.

He explained that on sighting the troops, the bandits opened fire while attempting to escape but the troops during the encounter, killed four of the armed bandits, wounded many, and recovered weapons as well as other items from them including a motorcycle.

Yerima also regrettably confirmed that one soldier was killed during the clash.
