It is one of the 15 pilots trained in South Africa among those recruited under the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) as pilots who can fly anywhere in the world.
According to Ruqayya’s father, her main goal was to become a pilot would not have come true without the scholarship and emotional support from the PTDF.
Ruqayya’s father expressed his happiness that his young daughter had set a great precedent, especially as culture was turning its back on women especially on the subject of post-secondary education.
