Ebonyi APC Chairman Reveals When Gov. Umahi Will Join Party

All is now set for the defection of Governor David Umahi from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Nigeria’s political space has been filled with reports of Governor Umahi’s impending defection to the APC.

The governor had decided to dump the PDP over the failure of the main opposition party to zone the 2023 presidency to the Southeast.

There are also speculations that David Umahi was plotting to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the APC.

Speaking to DailyTrust, the APC chairman for Ohaozara LGA of the state, Nnachi Victor, has said the Ebonyi governor will officially defect on Thursday.

He stated that Umahi fixed the date for his defection during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at Osborn La- Palm in Uburu, Ohaozara which serves as governor Umahi’s country home.

“We have been officially informed of Governor Umahi’s intention to join us in APC. A meeting was called in Osborn La-Palm in Ohaozara where the governor openly told us of his intention.

“Also, our national secretariat has informed us that Umahi will be joining us formerly this Thursday,” he said.

The meeting was attended by bigwigs including the lawmaker representing Ezza South/Ikwo federal constituency, Chinedu Ogah; Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Elias Mbam; Senator Julius Ali-Ucha, the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Nwachukwu Eze and Senator Anthony Agbo, among others.
