Kaduna State government has reopened the state’s largest market, Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, after more than four months of closure.

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai said the decision to close all markets in the state was to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The Central Market is situated on the outskirts of Kaduna, the state capital.

Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi Market is the largest market across the state with thousands of people from inside and outside the state flocking to the market.

The state government said it had decided to reopen the market after being satisfied with the measures taken by the government and business leaders to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
