The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, in Ebonyi State, Tony Nwizi, has been arrested police operatives in the state.

According to the Nation, Nwizi was arrested following the orders of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

The Spokesperson of the Ebonyi State Police Command, Loveth Odah, noted that she is yet to get details on the development.

She said agents “came into Ebonyi yesterday from the Anti-Kidnaping Unit of the Lagos State Police Command. They wanted their papers to be signed so they could affect an arrest”.

“We are still on the matter, in order to confirm if he was the one that they came for. The identity of whoever they came for is not usually disclosed.”

It was gathered that Nwizi’s arrest was due to a petition.
