Reports emerging on Monday morning has confirmed that a structure situated at Ezeluike Street, Olympic Layout, off One Day, Agbani Road, Awkunanaw, Enugu South, has collapsed.
The Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA) has sometime in November 2019 put a stop to works on the now collapsed three-storey building and as well marked it for demolition, Naija News learnt.
However, there was no life lost, nor casualty recorded yet as at the time this report was received.
According to a source who pleaded to remain anonymous, “the ECTDA does not issue approval at Olympic Layout where the building collapsed.”
“It would have demolished the property last week but suspended action in compliance with the lockdown and other proactive safety measures aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 in the state,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier in another news that the Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Professor Anthony Ugochukwu, has reported died amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Dr Kingsley C. Ugochukwu, in a statement noted that the renowned Surgeon who died on 3rd of April, 2020, died “after a prolonged but valiant battle with chronic kidney disease”.
