1. President Buhari Departs Nigeria For Egypt

President Muhammadu Buhari will today, Tuesday, December 10, 2019, depart Nigeria for Aswan, Egypt, to attend the Aswan Forum.

Naija News reports that the presidency in a statement said the Forum was designed to set “An Agenda for Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa.”

2. Why I Didn’t Attend Soyinka’s Award Programme – Yemi Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has blamed the prevailing saga on the continued detention of Omoyele Sowore, the online publisher of Sahara Reporters as this cause for his absence at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Award.

Osinbajo was to be honored with an award this evening for his role in the justice reform in Lagos State, while he was the state’s commissioner and Attorney General.

Natasha Akpoti, the Kogi state Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the November 16 governorship election in the state has approached the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on the outcome of the polls.

In her petition filed before the tribunal on Saturday night, Barr. Akpoti is requesting for the nullification of the poll.

5. Tinubu’s Reign Over, Sowore Now New Yoruba Leader – Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, says Bola Tinubu’s reign as a leader in Yoruba land is over because Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow Movement, is now the new Yoruba leader.

Naija News reports that Kanu made this statement during a live broadcast on Radio Biafra on Sunday, December 8, where he spoke on the maltreatment of Sowore by officials of the DSS and the abuse of human rights in Nigeria.

A group of Northern youths has warned about the readiness of the region to hand over power to the South when President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure expires in 2023.

According to the youths operating under the aegis of the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, the alleged humiliation of Northerners in Lagos by the task force is making the region have serious reconsiderations on supporting a power rotation to the South.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has stated that millions of Nigerians are not bothered about Omoyele Sowore been re-arrested by the Department of Security Service at the Federal High Court last week Friday.

Adesina stated this on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday when asked to state his position on the invasion of the court to arrest the publisher of Sahara Reporters.

8. Buhari, Other ECOWAS Leaders To Meet On Single Currency December 21st

Presidents of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have agreed to meet on the twenty-first of December 2019 to consider recommendations on the proposed single currency regime for the sub-region.

Naija News understands this was made known at the end of the meeting of Ministerial Committee of Ministers of Finances and Governors of Central Banks of ECOWAS on the single currency.

9. We Are Discussing El-Zakzaky’s Situation With Buhari – Iran Government

The government of Iran has disclosed that it is in discussions with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria over the case of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, has said his country through diplomatic contacts, is in touch with the Nigerian government in managing El-Zakzaky’s health.

10. Lagos State Assembly Reveals Verdict On Jumbo Pension For Tinubu, Other Ex-Governors

The Lagos state house of assembly has revealed its intended decision on the state’s pension law permitting former governors and other public office holders to receive pensions from state coffers.

The Chairman, House Committee on information and strategy, Tunde Braimoh who made this known during an interview session said the Lagos assembly will not stop the pension of it past governors and deputy governors despite SERAP’s Plea on state’s pension law.
