The Appeal filed by the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) in Adamawa State challenging the decision of Adamawa governorship election petition tribunal which validated the election of the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has now been reserved by the Appeal Court for Judgment

The court has also reserved the application for joinder brought before it by erstwhile Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla Bindow seeking to join the substantive suit filed by APC as co-appellant for the ruling.

Also during today’s sitting, the court equally heard cross-application filed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and reserved the same for judgment.

The court presided by 5 Panel of Judges led by Justice A. Gumel reserved APC’s appeal and Governor Fintiri’ cross-application respectively for judgment while ex-Governor Bindow’s application for joinder for ruling at later date.

Both the ruling and the judgment on Bindow’s application for joinder and Fintiri’s cross-application will be delivered alongside the substantive suit instituted by APC any moment from now.

The judgment is expected to be delivered on or before 12 December which is within 60 days as provided by the 1999 constitution as amended.

It could be recalled that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in the state delivered its verdict on APC’s petition against PDP, Fintiri and INEC as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respondents on the 11th October 2019 and December 12th will be 60 days after the judgment.
